Finding Your Nuggets of Gold to Add to your Pot of Gold called Life!
Baby, I was born this way!
I wish everyone was able to find who they are really meant to be. We were all born into this world for a reason. We all have lessons to learn and a journey to live. At what point in life do we forget to live, and we just start to exist. I don’t want to just exist. I want to live.
What does Living mean to me?
Here is what living means to me. Living is waking up every morning and being thankful for the day ahead. Not being a morning person, this one takes me a minute. I get to live another day and experience life, be it exciting or boring. It is loving those people in my life that make me a better person. It is taking on new life experiences and not being afraid to learn something new.
When you try something new, you may find your passion or a piece of your soul that you never knew was there. I want to accumulate all those pieces. I wasn’t born into this life to just exist. I was meant to bring joy and empower others, to show people how to overcome and excel. I want to set examples for others to follow. If I can inspire one person each day, life is good.
I surprise myself over and over with things I didn’t know I knew.
Things I Knew that I didn’t Know I Knew…
One day when my kids were small, I decided to sew their Halloween costumes. I think I did it 3 times, and they turned out pretty good. Buzz Lightyear was definitely the hardest. I didn’t sew again for 17 years. Then I decided to make t-shirt quilts for the boys for Christmas. They turned out amazing, and I discovered I was a sewing machine! Pun intended you’re welcome!
I made all types of things and found out that sewing is something that brings me joy. Who knew? I found one of those nuggets and labelled it. I know it’s there to tap into any time I need.
After Covid, I had this desire to paint. Now I should let you know that my husband doesn’t want me as a partner in Pictionary because he says I can’t really draw. It turns out I can paint like Picasso. That may be a stretch, but in my own mind, I amazed myself. My Mom and Grandmother were outstanding painters, but I never thought I had that in me. I paint some cool stuff and some goofy things, but I really like it. When Taylor had his concussion, I got him painting. He is really good at landscapes. That’s not my strong suit, so I find it really impressive. I found another nugget!
It’s a given that I love sports. There are so many to try, though. I never pass up a chance to try something new. Last year I gave pickleball a try. What a fun game! I might be the youngest player out there, but I love it. I wish I played more, but there is time for that. I know it is in my future for sure.
I have just signed up for rowing lessons. I am so excited. Not only is it a great way to strengthen my back muscles, but I get to be on the water with friends. One of my favorite things. These are all little nuggets of my soul that I can mark and add to my pot. I can start to become who I was meant to be.
Cooking is not something I always want to do, but I enjoy cooking. Nugget!
My goal in Ski teaching is to empower other women to get out and ski. It makes me sad to see Moms sitting in the lodge while Dad and the kids are out enjoying the ski hill.
I want to let them know that they can learn. Moms can get out there and enjoy a run or two with their family or more. I really love taking out friends and giving them little pointers here and there, and then I get to sit back and watch them start to fly.
That is a big nugget in my soul, helping others achieve in sport. I love it! It’s probably why my minor in University was coaching!
Finding all these nuggets add up to my pot of gold.
The pot of gold of life!

Once you start finding the nuggets, you need to start weaving them into your everyday life. If you like to paint or want to try, set aside time in your week. Go to a class or a paint night. Paint nights are great. You get to have a few drinks with friends and learn how to paint. There’s not much thinking involved. They tell you what to paint and how to paint it, kind of a no-brainer. It’s what got me started! The gins may have helped too!
Some things you find will be seasonal, and some you may be able to do every day. Journaling is a great thing to do every day or meditation, these are just 2 things I personally enjoy, but you can find your own. I know you can do it!
What all of these little nuggets do, is remind you to live and experience something every day. Become who you were meant to be and enjoy life. Just existing day to day is draining; living every day is invigorating! Get out there and LIVE!
Before you leave, drop me a note and let me know one thing that is a nugget in your life. Maybe it’s something I enjoy or would like to try and have never even thought of. If you incorporate the Yes Factor from my earlier post into your life, it can also help you find your nuggets! Happy Hunting!
