What this Winter Brought – 2022
The Winter Season is a busy season for me. I love the snow, and being out in it every day feeds my soul. The ski hill has taught me a lot about myself over the years. It has brought me together with friends and family and allowed me to make new friends. I have become a better instructor and seen the joy I can bring to a group when skiing. I have put in a ton of time and effort to better myself as an instructor, and it finally paid off.
It finally happened!
I have worked for 6 years to pass my Canadian Ski Instructor Level 3 exams. At the end of February, I took the only exam standing in my way. Actually, it was me standing in my way this whole time. I just finally put it all together and passed my teaching exam. I am now a certified level 3 instructor. I set this goal so long ago, and finally, being in a place of achievement is a beautiful feeling. I am grateful for all the help I received along the way, from my family and friends who came out and let me practice with them to my peers in the ski school who also helped and cheered me on.
On the day of the exam, I decided to mix things up. I had always gone first in the past, and this time, I let the placements fall where they wanted to be. I went last that day. After such a long day, I asked that the participants (other people on the exam with me) give me just one more hour.
I had fun. I showed not only the examiners but myself that I knew the information and how to convey it so my students could improve. It was almost an out-of-body experience. I got out of my own way, and I made ego take a backseat and allowed myself to shine bright. I felt like a million bucks after that exam.
I wasn’t the only one who passed that day—seeing how much it meant to myself and the other young lady who achieved this goal was pretty impressive! We both had so many people supporting us, and it helped us both tremendously.
Cheer them on!
It’s an excellent reminder to help those around you and cheer them on. Tell the old ego to have a seat and just encourage someone! So thanks to those who have cheered me on through the years. It was a long road and one that I am pleased to say I finished. I still plan to move ahead and get a few more designations, but I’m going to rest for now!
Family Time
This winter also brought me back together with my Dad. It’s funny how things work out. We were able to spend quite a few days on the ski hill. We hadn’t skied together in 2 years, so this was also something that made my heart sing. I was very grateful to watch my Dad ski down with my son Taylor in front of him and Kevin and me behind him. It just felt right. We were missing Garrett, who was on an adventure of his own this winter. I am grateful for the time with family this winter.
Exciting New Opportunity
With my Winter season coming to an end, I have decided to start a new adventure of my own. I have been cultivating a new website to share my endeavour. You can find my website at www.astepaheadhealing.com. I am starting to teach classes on energy in April.
I have been working on it for a while now and feel ready to start sharing with interested people.
Making a new website once again forced me out of my comfort zone. It took me longer than it should have to create it, but I started to doubt myself, which slowed me down. I should never have doubted myself, and neither should you. I know that I am supposed to be teaching about all things energy and sharing with people who need some guidance or are just curious. It has kept me learning and growing, which sure makes me feel good. I hope you’ll take a minute and check out my site. Please pass it along to anyone you think could benefit from my services.
I hope you have all had a good Winter and you are ready for everything Spring has to offer you. It’s time to get outside and find your happiness!
