I get knocked down, but I get up again! Covid can’t keep me down!

Got my 5G upgrade!

I was finally able to get my Covid 19 Vaccine.  I really don’t want to debate if you are pro or anti-vaccine. I just want to share my story.  If this post is not for you, that’s ok.  So, back to my story.  I was able to go to a drive-through site and get vaccinated. Woohoo!

I was not aware of how much I wanted one until I could get one.  This season of Covid has been tough.  It started with all the shutdowns. Then we had the virus go through our house.  Well, we couldn’t get tested because, at that time, they were only testing those who were gravely sick.  We were told to stay home and get better.

It was a bit scary.  I have asthma, and so does Taylor, so we had to be extra careful and take our inhalers every day.  I have not been that sick since I was in fifth grade with pneumonia.  It took all of us about 3 weeks to feel somewhat better.  It is a very nasty virus.  I wouldn’t want anyone to have to suffer through it.

Now with all the different strains attacking us again, I was all for getting the vaccine.  I know that I can be around my friends and family, which is all a bit safer.  I know it doesn’t keep us from getting it again, but it does feel safer, and I feel like I am keeping my loved ones and your loved ones safer.  I feel for the families that lost people to this virus.  It is an unfortunate time in our history to lose all those people.

I do feel that Covid was a way to reset and reassess.  How many people ended up doing things that they couldn’t find the time for before?  How many people started renovation projects?  We renovated; it was already on the books to be done, but finally, there was time freed up, and it got done.  How many people took up new hobbies?  If we look back at the last year and a bit, there has been a lot of good come out of this time of covid.

I remember when all the stores opened up after about a month.  You could order online and go pick it up.  I bought a new bar-b-que.  I was so excited!  I felt like it was something normal.  I was a consumer again!  It was a weird feeling. Why did being a consumer put such a smile on my face?  Well, it felt normal.  In a time that was anything but normal, It felt normal, and it felt good.

I have come up with a list of all the things I am looking forward to once everything opens up.  I thought about making a list of all I am missing, but that just seemed to take me in the wrong direction, so here’s a list of what I am looking forward to.  I hope you can relate!

Top 10 Things I am looking forward to once Covid restrictions lift and boarders open…

  1.  I am most looking forward to hanging out with my friends in large groups, like party size groups!  I love to throw a party, and we have a BIG Birthday this summer, and I really wanted to throw a whopper of a party.  So, I am looking forward to being able to do that.

  2. I am looking forward to seeing my family again.  The border has been closed for a while, and non-essential travel is still not ok.  I’d have to quarantine on my way home, not something I want to do for 2 weeks.  So, when the border opens, I am looking forward to family time.

  3. I am looking forward to eating in restaurants whenever we want.  I feel so bad for small businesses.  Especially the food industry.  To all small business owners, I hope you can make it through and come out on the other side.

  4. I am looking forward to not having to wear a mask.  It fogs my glasses and is annoying, but I am willing to do what needs to be done to keep people safe.  The mask isn’t really that big of a deal, but I am looking forward to not having to wear one.

  5. I am looking forward to travelling again.  The top places I want to go when we can travel are…

    • California to see my family.

    • Monterey, Mexico, to see our buddy who we have not been to see down there in 25 years.  It’s about time we get there.

    • A college football game, we travel with another couple every year to a game at a new stadium, and I miss it.  I can’t wait to go again.

    • I want to be able to watch my son race Ski Cross next season, wherever that may be.

    • Hmmm….wherever life takes me!

  6. I am looking forward to having family visit me in Canada!

  7. I am looking forward to items being available for purchase because vendors can get products.  My Aunt counted 28 container ships outside of the breakwater in Long Beach, waiting to offload.  That’s a lot of product sitting on ships.

  8. I am really looking forward to meeting new people.  I miss teaching ski lessons and meeting people from everywhere.

  9. I look forward to seeing smiling faces again.

  10. I look forward to getting and giving hugs!

What does your list look like?  Give me some different ideas in the comments.

There was one I forgot to add. I am really looking forward to a big family wedding in October!  A celebration, a symbol of growth, a symbol of love and happiness.  It’s a great event to look forward to.

In closing, if you got the 5G upgrade, thank you. I look forward to seeing you all soon!

Here are the links to last weeks posts in case you missed them. Might as well catch up while you are here!

The Stupid Years… The stupid years is a fun read about when your kids wake up one morning, and they just aren’t themselves. It’s a bit of a guide for those about to go through it or are in it and a good way to reminisce for those of us that have been there.

Happy Mother’s Day! This post is not a gushy post, it just celebrates Moms in all their forms.

Have a great day Everyone!
